Door 13: Fleabag
Through all the ages and political turmoil, one thing British people rarely loose is their sense of humor. This also the case for their TV series and as they have been the big thing during the last decade, they stand out from the rest, especially Phoebe Waller-Bridge's series Fleabag.
The series is based on Waller-Bridge's 2013 Edinburgh Festival Fringe one-woman play of the same name, which won the Fringe First Award. She shortly toured with it and then adapted it for TV, which premiered in July 2016. Next to creating and writing it, she also plays the main character Fleabag.
She is joined by Sian Clifford, the ever amazing and versatile Olivia Colman, Bill Paterson and Brett Gelman. Importantly Andrew Scott joins as a priest on the second season, which ended in April 2019. The series is set to end just after two seasons to high acclaim of critics and viewers.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge's sharp and witty writing describes and observes the today's life perfectly. She also tackles through its wit and dark humor bigger subjects like emotions and relationships and openly shows them. The amazing actors help to make that come across.
